The indicator of temperature of a cooling liquid

The gauge of an ambient temperature (arrow) is located in a bumper at the left behind a radiator lattice.

At the left: under the temperature gauge of system of injection (2) the model with the 5-cylinder engine has an electronic thermoswitch (1). The scheme of an arrangement of contacts the following:

Т – the temperature indicator;
R – the conditioner;
+ – A food;
With – a control bulb an overheat of a cooling liquid.

On the right: models with the 6-cylinder engine have a same electronic thermoswitch (arrow) with the identical scheme of an arrangement of contacts. It is screwed in in the pipeline with a cooling liquid, behind to the right of the engine.

The indicator of temperature of a cooling liquid operates approximately the same as also the indicator of quantity of fuel. A food arrives to the device at the included ignition, connection on "weight" occurs through the temperature gauge on the engine. This gauge is represented by the resistance passing the more current, than above temperature so the bimetallic element in the device heats up more strongly owing to what the needle deviates further. In Audi two various kinds of temperature gauges are used.

The standard gauge ("overheat" combined with the switch for a signalling device of temperature of a cooling liquid). It is established in models with the 4-cylinder engine, not equipped with the conditioner. Electronic thermoswitch (has also other functions) in models with the 4-cylinder engine, equipped with the conditioner, and also in models with 5 and the 6-cylinder engine. The help: at too heat of a cooling liquid the red blinking warning signalling device in addition lights up. In the cars equipped with system of autocheck, there is a symbol a cooling liquid.

Malfunctions

The inexact indicator of temperature of a cooling liquid at simultaneously inexact indicator of quantity of gasoline specifies in the damaged voltage stabilizer. The reason for completely absent indication can be both the temperature gauge, and the device. At a correct indicator, but simultaneously blinking signalling device it is necessary to check up the gauge of level of the cooling liquid, located in a broad tank.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

To separate the tip of the temperature gauge in a motor compartment. With wire slice to extend separate plug contact to the temperature indicator (a sine-brown wire) in the multicontact tip and to bring to the bared metal ("weight"). For a short while to include ignition: if motionless before the indicator needle starts to move now on a scale, means, the temperature gauge is faulty – to replace. If in the indicator varies nothing, means, there is a rupture in conducting, or defect of the indicator. Its removal is described in the beginning of the head.
